Three Little Known Tips To Saving Money On Beach Vacation Travel

By Sagar Jawale

Right here is a very simple technique to save on seaside vacation travel. We are going to present you 3 methods to save lots of bucks when booking your subsequent seaside vacation. The seashore is an incredible experience. Irrespective of whether you have traveled to far western Australia or taken a quick week end trip to the Jersey Shore, barring rain, the seaside is often a extremely enjoyable experience.

We've taken trips everywhere in the world. we have missed big money savings that have been seemingly all around us if we had simply taken the time to do a research. Well, you might be in luck. The journey analysis has been accomplished for you, all it's a must to do is to keep reading. Earlier than you know it, you'll be taking the seashore vacation of your life, for a steeply discounted price. Right here we go:

Typically, people can put their trip options up at discounts. Do you know that there are all kinds of individuals on the market who have time shares but can't use them for varied reasons? Perhaps the season is not proper, or they may not get the flight that they need. E bay has a thriving market for timeshare opportunities. A variety of the listings are present (e.g. people in search of others to buy their vacation shares out completely), but sometimes individuals are just trying to monetize a week worth of timeshare that they can't seem to make use of themselves. Their loss will be your opportunity. E bay is an auction giant, and the highest worth wins usually.

Study the whole lot, guess what? Expedia and Orbitz seem like they are juggernauts of travels and they control quite a lot of the market. However, they don't have every vendor available. Plenty of the low cost airlines like South West and Jet Blue don't use either of those massive firms and you can solely get their offers by going directly to their website. Don't' tell anybody, however from what we have heard Jet Blue is meant to have really nice seats and screens on new planes with actually good prices. We haven't used Jet Blue ourselves but, but it surely supposed be really good (particularly at delivering goods worth on Northeast to Florida routes). That tip alone may save some bucks whereas getting you a really nice flight.

The primary 2 points are completely valid in any trip planning but almost worthless when you think about that you simply may need to shell out much more bucks for locations abroad. There is a stunning seaside state situated not too away from east of the Mississippi. That's right. Florida. Florida is back and it's seashores are nonetheless fantastic. Florida is beautiful. There has been plenty of growth of Florida over the past 50 years, however Florida remains to be a good state with plenty of undiscovered beaches. The state of Florida might be nice if you recognize where to look. It's fairly nice. Belief us....the undiscovered spots of Florida can actually be something great. However, they are turning more and more difficult to find as thousands of people visit to Florida each month. - 38505

By Lynette Davis

Nothing rekindles old feelings like watching movies when we see our favorite past time movie; it tends to bring back old memories and feelings. Having said this, we research ways to watch movies which was a hit 15 years ago. Luckily for us the internet has supplied us websites where we can watch out favorite movies, fortunately for us there is what we call old movie downloads.

The web may be famous in its feature to air the latest movies that hits the big screen, but it does not leave to assist the others who respect the worth of those films that were made in a time far and long from today, these old movies are very special and pack a lot of good memories and mixed emotions.

The Advantages That Movie Downloads Provide

By Mariana Newton

Movie downloads are popular these days for a number of reasons. The benefits one gets from purchasing and downloading films on the net are simply hard to refuse. Do you still rent DVDs or line up for tickets if you wish to enjoy a blockbuster? Then read on. When you're done, you might already be one of the many who get their movies on the internet.

All it takes is for you to own a PC or a laptop, and have a broadband internet connection. Those basically are all you need in order to enjoy movies right in your home. You will never run out of sites where to pick up blockbusters as there are so many of them. You also got a variety of options when it comes to charges.

How you pay for your movies should be based on how frequently you intend to watch them. For instance, if you can watch flicks only a few times a week. Then something which requires you to pay only when a download is made is suitable for you. But if you watch movies heavily, then go for a monthly subscription which allows you to pick multiple titles, but with a limit.

One of the biggest benefits you can get from purchasing blockbusters on the internet is the convenience. Sure you just want to enjoy a nice film when you get home from the office or after taking care of the kids. Imagine the hassle of having to drive to town just to rent a DVD. When all you want is to sit back and enjoy a blockbuster right away.

Imagine taking the time out to drive to the movie rental downtown. But only to find that the movie title you wish to rent has been rented by someone already. However, if you subscribe online, you're guaranteed to be able to download what you like to see. And you can do so at any time of the day, at any day of the week.

When you add up all the expenses, downloading flicks actually costs cheaper too. When you forget to return a rented DVD on time, you pay fines. When you accidentally scratch it, you pay another fine. Going to the cinema too is more expensive. You pay for gas, ticket and snacks. Download payment is trouble-free, as fees are charged to your credit card.

Aside from money, you also save a lot of time. When downloading something, you need not take a shower, get dressed up, drive, fall in line for a ticket, etc. With the time you save, you can focus on resting after your work, or having quality time with your kids.

Some web pages even allow their subscribers to post ratings or reviews of the movies they had purchased and seen. This will come in handy, as you get to read someone else's opinion of a flick before you actually pay for it. Others even allow you to check out previews. This guarantees you that what you're about to purchase is something you will like and enjoy.

Purchasing movie downloads is easy. With a few clicks of the mouse button, you can have the film of your choice in your computer. While waiting for the download to finish, you can do other things that are productive. And best of all, you got a copy of it in your hard drive. So you can enjoy it over and over again. - 38505

The Last Dragon Reviewed

By Erma Duncan

The Last Dragon is a film that was produced by Motown Records in the mid eighties as a sort of a Kung Fu comedy flick. It was really meant to promote some music from the company like Oh Sheila, but the flick has actually stood the test of time as one of the all time must download movies of the eighties. It's a lot of fun, it's kind of corny, and it works as an action movie.

The story follows a young man nicknamed "Bruce Leroy", a Harlem martial artist who teaches Kung Fu to the local kids. He works at his father's pizza place, delivering pies on foot and deals with his rival, Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem... Yep. Sho'Nuff... The Shogun of Harlem. This incredibly goofy martial arts tale takes place on the real streets of modern day Harlem and creates a really quirky, one of a kind movie.

Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, is really a cinematic treasure as far as great film characters go. He tries to egg Bruce Leroy into a fight so that he can prove, once and for all, who the strongest fighter in the city is. Every time he steps on scene, it's with a short speech, aided by his lackeys. "Am I the prettiest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the baddest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the meanest, leanest mofo around dis town?!" "SHO NUFF!" "SHO'NUFF! Da Shogun of Harlem!" He wears visor sunglasses, a samurai's hakama (those baggy pants that disguise foot movement), and shoulder pads, as well as a top knot... He looks ridiculous and he's just a joy to behold.

If there's one downside to the movie, it's the whole subplot about the Cyndi Lauper wannabe singer and her promoter/boyfriend. He's trying to play hardball in order to get her played on the local music show, and... Well, it's just not really the high point of the movie. It's not too much of a distraction, but you'll find yourself wishing they'd just get back to the kung fu already.

But regardless, it is funny, and it does pay off with a big brawl scene at the end when he hires all the meanest guys in the city to attack Bruce Leroy and his students. The end result is a really great rumble scene with Leroy taking on a few dozen hilarious, wild characters before finally beating Sho'Nuff and attaining "The Glow" which is what you call it when they draw a halo of light around your body frame by frame.

There are a ton of fun, corny eighties movie moments along the way, with Bruce Leroy seeking out an old Confucian master of wisdom; the guy who writes fortune cookies. When he discovers that the fortune cookie writer is actually a computer, he has a moment of zen like clarity.

Perhaps the movie might have been better without the relatively uninteresting subplot. After all, you just came for the kung fu, right? But nevertheless, it still remains a classic of its genre, and one of the few films to successfully spoof kung fu movies and honor them at the same time. It's really a lot of fun, with just enough corny eighties style goofiness to make it one of the all time classic eighties comedies.

It's exciting, funny, colorful and kind of corny, and a lot of fun. Get a few beers and some buddies and give it a download. You'll definitely enjoy the show if nothing else. - 38505

Fresh Directed By Boaz Yakin Explained

By Terry Hawkins

Boaz Yakin is typically seen as a work-for-hire writer and director. It's not his fault, he's just a good writer with bills to pay, so he takes a lot of sub-par studio projects that don't really offer him anything interesting to do in the script. So it's weird that a movie like Fresh comes from someone with a track record for mediocrity, but Fresh really is one of the all time must see movie downloads.

This movie came after Boaz Yakin's self imposed exile. At a certain point, he became disillusioned with the film industry and declared that he would be taking a hiatus from writing, at least until he felt he had something important to say. The result was a movie that truly does make a powerful statement.

Fresh is the name of the young hero of the movie, a child who works as a drug mule for various dealers and scumbags around the city. He makes around twenty to fifty bucks per run, and saves it all up in a coffee can while his dealers have assumed he's been spending it on comic books and candy bars. What exactly is he saving it for? Well, you'll find out, and you'll be honestly shocked and surprised at exactly how deep his plans really go.

Each week, Fresh spends one afternoon playing chess with his father who offers him guidance and a moment to reflect upon what's going on in his life. These are sort of the Greek chorus scenes of the film, allowing both Fresh and the audience to consider what has happened before and where the movie is going to go from here. The chess also serves as a metaphor for what Fresh is doing while on the clock.

The movie is sort of like Fistful of Dollars as a hood story. Two of Fresh's friends are killed by one of the dealers he works for, and he takes it upon himself to exact an incredible revenge plan that gives you one surprise after another. Fresh is a young man of incredible intelligence, and his scheme is one of the all time greatest plots in film history.

Fresh's scheme to take the badguys down is really incredible, serving as a fascinating parallel to the chess games he plays with his father. The master stroke of his plan is that none of his opponents suspect him of a thing, as he is, after all, just a kid. He essentially manages to play dumb and innocent, while in fact outsmarting everyone around him.

The movie is, at times, brutally and shockingly violent. This is necessary to drive home the reality of Fresh's situation. He's not in a good place in life, his bosses menace him and threaten him with death at every turn, and he walks a tightrope in order to keep himself alive while at the same time taking down the people who torment him and his friends and family.

The film is truly one of a kind. Clockers runs in a somewhat similar vein, but Fresh is built around a truly unique concept. The movie takes a young child, around ten years old, and pits him against ruthless, violent, sociopath criminals. It's not a children's movie, even though the hero is a child. It is a film about the power of morality and righteousness over compromised morality and cruelty, and truly a fascinating thriller. - 38505

A Review Of Terminator 2

By Alyson Sweeney

James Cameron's name is back on top thanks to the recent release of Avatar, which is said to break new ground in cinematic technology, as well as showcasing his trademark excellent story telling. Cameron made his name years ago with movies like Aliens but Terminator 2 is the one that really made it known that he was capable of making some of the greatest movies of all time. If you, for some reason, haven't seen it yet, or just haven't seen it in awhile, go ahead and watch T2 the next time you want to download movies.

The thing about Terminator 2 is that it's not just about the special effects. For James Cameron, the special effects are never the point. Rather, the special effects are just one small tool in his toolkit. James Cameron has made a lot of incredible innovations in the field of special effects, but they always serve the story, not the other way around.

If for some reason you haven't seen it yet... Welcome to the 21st Century! Come out from under that rock/the iceberg you've been frozen in for decades. We'll go ahead and quickly describe the premise: Robots take over the world, there's a human resistance to their rule. They send a robot back to kill the human resistance leader in his teens, the adult resistance leader sends another robot back to serve as a bodyguard. That's as complicated as it gets. It's actually pretty straight forward from there.

Terminator 2 made some incredible steps forward in special effects, starting with the T-1000, the liquid metal terminator sent back to finish off John Connor. This movie was made back in the early nineties, and you won't be able to tell that these effects are out of date. It's really incredible how they used innovation and artistry to make up for somewhat lacking technology (of course, a lot of new technology was developed specifically for this movie...).

The movie has a kind of purity to it in that, while the background is fairly complicated, the movie is not. The movie is driven purely on emotion and strong storytelling. You have the classic tale of the robot who becomes humanized and the heroes beating the bad guys. From there it's all about the humanity of the characters, what they think and feel, even if there is some heady, high sci-fi stuff in there, it's all about the people in the end.

If you haven't seen it yet... Where the heck have you been for twenty odd years?! If you have, when was the last time you saw it? It's always worth watching again as it really is one of the greatest American films of the last two decades.

Watch it again. The movie really does have a lot of depth and is one of the great American classic films of the last few decades. It's exciting, it's dramatic, it's meaningful and touching, it's even funny at several points, and seriously redefined the American cinematic landscape, and the world cinema.

Bottom line, it's an all time American classic, and you need to see it. Either for the first time, or for the hundredth, it's always a good time to watch Terminator 2. - 38505

Movie Download Are The Best Solution

By Amy Briggs

If you love movie downloads and you enjoy the convenience of the internet you are probably one of the many who have accidentally stumbled upon free movie downloads. It's important to realize, well before hitting the download button, that these sites are generally not a good idea.

Most free movie download sites are after your personal information for other purposes. Whether they just want your email address or they are looking for something a little more sinister in nature like your personal information, free downloads violate a whole mess of copyright laws that can land you in a whole world of hot water.

It's ridiculously cheap to join a movie download subscription service. Unlike the movie rental store, a few dollars will get you access to a host of movies that span more than 20 years or even 50 years.

You can find the obscure films, the classics, and the absolute hottest new releases. In order to grab one of the best movies that you want to watch, all you have to do is part with a few dollars for unlimited movie downloads.

This can add up to quite a bit of money for the average movie watcher. If you are an avid movie watcher, the price of brick and mortar movie stores becomes exorbitant.

There are other advantages to joining the movie subscription service. Most sites offer additional content such as music or video games. Being able to have complete access to all of the inventory is not only highly cost effective but it is also a lot more fun.

Movie rentals are highly expensive, especially if you enjoy more than just the occasional movie. The rental stores charge for their membership fee, then apply an additional fee for the few days you are permitted to borrow the movie for, and then a few more fees for returning it later than their time stamped preset time frame. This can be as much as $20 per movie.

Movie downloads allow you to keep the flick of your choice. Legal movie downloads bring you the best in entertainment but don't strap you down to viewing times or rental terms. You just download and watch. As often as you'd like.

Access is the key to joining the right legal movie download subscription service. Check what type of access you receive. You really shouldn't expect to pay more than $10 for movie access.

The internet has changed the way we operate and it has definitely changed the way we watch movies. You don't have to watch movies online if you prefer the television screen in your living room. You can download movies and share them with your technology throughout your home.

Whether you are waiting for a flight or you have been stuck waiting at the doctor's office, you have to admit that life is just a lot more fun when it is accompanied by a legal movie download. - 38505

Find Good Best Legal Movie Download Sites

By Joann Walsh

It has happened to all of us. Even though you have the greatest of cable packets, you run all the channels from 1 to 99, 999 and there is still nothing to watch. You continue your search through the DVD library and there is nothing there either. You know that a really good movie was just released on DVD, but do not want to waste the energy to go pick up a copy. Here is a great idea, movie downloads.

There are legal movie downloads available on the internet. All you have to do is pay the movie download services and get your movie. Play it back through your digital television or computer monitor and enjoy the show.

According to your choice, the movies can be one time rentals for a single viewing or they can be purchased so that you can burn DVDs, saved on media players or your computer. You can have all of this without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home. As winter approaches, this sounds like a great idea for a stormy night.

Just think of how convenient this will be when you get home, are enjoying the warmth and do not have want to go out to pick something up.

It is much better than renting a DVD from a brick and mortar store that you never get to watch. You bring it home to find everyone is busy for the night or the must see award show is on and your movie gets passed by. Eventually it gets to the point you will have to pay a late fee if you get to watch so you drop it off, the case never opened once again.

Now, with movie downloads, you do not have to remember to stop by the rental shop.

One of the greatest is advantages is you no longer have to make a stop at the movie rental shop on the way home. Any time, even after the shop is closed, you can choose your movie online to rent. There are never any late fees to pay.

For those who normally purchase DVDs the problem becomes storage. It is easy to have all those cases take over an entire closet for storage. When you decide to watch a show, you can never find the right video. Think of the room that you will save on storage and the convenience of having those movies on your computer at your fingertips.

There are many sites on the internet that offer free downloads of pirated movies. Please do not download these movies.

The sale of movies as DVD or downloads is the right of the motion picture studio that made the movie. The sales of the movies support artist and craftsmen who make our movies possible. People who would never think of shoplifting a DVD may download the pirated movies. They may not realize that they just stole the movie.

It is easy to get legal movie downloads. Just head over to one of those trusted sites, pay the fee and download to your heart's content. - 38505

The Shining Starring Jack Nicholson

By Esperanza Shepard

The Shining is a novel that was written by Stephen King, the true master of horror. His novel had people sitting on the edge of their seats through the early seventies and into nineteen eighty. That is when the reign of terror went a step further and the movie was made.

The film was released during the spring and terrified watchers during the entire summer. It was so successful that people were actually memorizing the lines and phrases. In the end the flick won many nominations and one award from the academy.

The storyline involved a character named Jack Torrance, his spouse, and son. After succumbing to alcoholism he takes his family to live in a large, haunted Colorado hotel. There he will act as caretaker during the off season when there is nobody living in it. The job seems like a great way to get away, but they will soon realize the buildings horrifying past.

Danny, the couple's child, is already aware that something is not quite right. He had visions of tragedies that had taken place years earlier. His special gift had warned him about the evil that was waiting for his family. After the group moves in those prophecies begin coming true.

Jack Nicholson is highly responsible for the success of this movie. His realistic acting had the audience sitting on the edges of their seats. He portrayed his evil character so well that many thought he truly was sinister.

Film highlights

The film had many moments worth remembering. Some of these sent chills up audience member's spines. Others simply filled their nights with vivid dreams of the ever present evil.

One memory evoking phrases of the film has to be the young son, Danny, repetitious phrase redrum. This was murder spelled backwards and was repeated by the youngster after going into a hypnotic trance. It was not only disturbing to his young mother, but sent chills up many viewers' spines.

Anyone who has seen this flick cannot forget the ghostly encounter Danny had with the previous owner's dead twin daughters. He was riding his back through the hotel when he stopped dead. The girls stood at the end of a hallway calling to him. It is a truly chilling moment that gives movie goers that scare they are waiting for.

Soon after encountering the ghostly girls in the upper hall, the young boy wanders into a room where he finds an even more horrifying sight. An old woman who had died in the bathtub was waiting to attack him. When his father investigated the happening he found an attractive young lady who was ready to seduce him. After that moment Jack became evil and set out to hurt his beloved family.

Evil began taking over the man's body and he soon became quite sinister. His wife and son began to worry about him and it was not long before they realized that he meant to kill them. This is evident when he takes an ax and busts through their bedroom door. A chase ensues and the movie comes to a climax.

The Shining is a true horror masterpiece that should not be missed by anyone. Although the film has its bloody moments, there is not nearly as much gore that is found in more current flicks. However, those who watch it are prone to long lasting nightmares. - 38505

Taxi Driver With Jodie Foster And Robert De Niro

By Karin Reyes

Scorsese is always considered the greatest living filmmaker. Whether or not you agree, even his critics consider him one of the greatest that's ever lived. Even when doing some fairly standard genre biopic material with the Aviator or remakes like The Departed and Cape Fear, he still manages to put a personal touch on the material and create the sort of film, like Taxi Driver, that simply pulls you directly into its world.

Not many directors are really as capable as Scorsese when it comes to being able to drag you into a fictional world, to build a whole atmosphere around you. You feel like you're sitting shotgun in Travis Bickle's cab right beside him. It almost feels like a documentary for its sheer realism. It is as close as you can get to "found footage" without some gimmick like having one of the characters hold the camera.

The film stands as the second entry in something of a trilogy of films alongside The Searchers and Paris, Texas. All three films use essentially the same outline for their stories, and both Scorsese's film and Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas are considered loose remakes of The Searchers. The trilogy stands as a testament to how many different ways there are to tell a story, proving that old axiom that a movie isn't about what it's about, it's about how it's about it.

The Searchers is an adventure film rotating around the themes of racism and lonesomeness. Paris, Texas takes a similar story and tells it in a sweet way, focusing on issues of lonesomeness and family, and Scorsese focuses on lonesomeness and the use of violence as a means of personal validation. In all three, the heroes serve as escorts, attempting to rescue people and put them where they need to be, reuniting them with their families, but in all three, the heroes must leave once more in the end, forever alone.

In each film, a real statement on loneliness is made. This is what helps the heroes of these films to be so easy to relate to, even as they do things that most of us would never be proud of having done. Even Travis Bickle, who commits so many acts of grisly violence, is such a human and endearing character in spite of his mental illness, because we know what it is to be that desperate for validation.

Everyone has been at a point in their lives where they feel trapped in their own little bubble. Loneliness doesn't just mean being alone, being single or living out in the middle of nowhere. Loneliness can happen even when you're surrounded by people all day. We know where Travis has been.

Few people are willing to talk about the darkest aspect of the film, because it involves looking at your own darker instincts: We root for Travis Bickle in the end. We shouldn't, but we do, because we wish he could be the hero, we wish the film was a western so that his simplistic moral compass would be correct. The tragedy is that it's not a western.

The film serves as a great companion piece to The Searchers and Paris, Texas, but it also goes hand in hand with Stallone's First Blood, which was similarly about an outsider, a Vietnam veteran, who turns to violence as a way to find personal validation. - 38505

Great Movie Downloads Sites

By Penelope Lester

We're a wired culture with the ability to satisfy and curiosity, question, or whim at a moment's notice. Many times multitasking has the inclusion of background music, taking time to social network, or watching your favorite movie while you work. You don't have to go to the video store anymore to get what you want and even the expense of pay per view is a thing of the past. The internet has democratized what we can do with entertainment and the prices are lower than ever.

The largest and most popular movie service is NetFlix which allows customers to subscribe, for little money, to a service that will deliver movies either to your door or through your computer. It is the quintessential model for on demand service. As more and more families have transformed their living rooms into entertainment oasis', the internet has come up and met the demand to stay home and have your fun on your own terms.

The technology of video on demand (VOD) can stream in real time through a specific box connected to your television, a digital video recorder (DVR) or your computer. Streaming videos gives the same variability as if you were watching a DVD - you can still fast forward, pause, rewind, jump chapters and frame, etc.

The ease of getting what you want has already created somewhat of a firestorm in the music industry regarding peer to peer file sharing and that networking has extended to movie downloading. The dangers are the same in downloading either movies or music including the insertion of malware - usually adware or spyware that can slow down the performance of your computer considerable while also putting you at risk regarding your personal information. Pay to watch movie downloads sites are the safest best in terms of quality, performance, and keep you away from malware through free virus protection.

Apple's iTunes, Starz's Vongo, Amazon's Unbox, CinemaNow and MovieLink are five movie downloading sites that offer an alternative to the behemoth that is NetFlix. If you're going to watch movies on your video iPod, there is only one choice and that is going through iTunes. The price per download is one of the more expensive services at 12.99 for the first week, 14.99 for new releases, and 9.99 for older titles.

Because you are only able to watch your downloads on an iPod or your computer, the price is exorbitant for the limited number of venues to watch your movie. Also, iTunes does not offer free movie selections and, for families, it has weak parental controls and no subscription or rental options. It's a hard pill to swallow to be forced to purchase a movie rather than just spending a little to watch one.

Vongo's movies are from the Starz library and as such, current blockbusters are not available, but for 9.95 a month there are a large number of rent-only movies available.

Amazon's Unbox has no subscription fee and has the ability to work across multiple platforms, PCs, and devices. The image quality is one of the best among movie downloading sites and includes all recent movies and TV shows for prices comparable to the neighborhood video store.

Most likely the best downloading site of the bunch is CinenaNow which has a total library under 4,500 movies and offers a variety of plans for the consumer including a subscription rate, one at time rentals, free movies and the power to burn what you've downloaded onto a blank DVD.

MovieFlix is one of the cheapest in terms of subscribing at 7.95 a month. The image quality is not the best, and they don't have the newest movies in stock, but there's a decent collection of free movies. Whatever your needs and platforms, finding the right movie downloading site is an easy proposition. - 38505

Buying A Sleeping Bag

By Mark Walters

If you spend a lot of time outdoors camping, then you know how important choosing the right sleeping bag can be. When looking to buy a sleeping bag there are many choices that you have to make in order to get the one most suitable for you. You need to decide what size and style you want. You need to determine what type of filler and lining you want. You need to know how warm / cold the climate is that you will be using it in.

Once you decide on the style of your sleeping bag, it can help to make the rest of the choices a little easier. There are three basic shapes to choose from - mummy, rectangle and combination. The mummy sleeping bag is generally the warmest as it conforms to the contours of your body leaving considerably less room for cold air to be trapped compared to other styles. It has a hood to cover your head, and an elastic or drawstring draft collar to keep the warm air inside the bag from escaping past your neckline.

The rectangle style bag allows much more space for movement but does not have a hood or draft collar. Rectangular bags are indeed a great deal wider and arguably more comfortable. As an addition, two rectangular bags could be joined together to form a much larger double sleeping bag to hold two people. The combination sleeping bags use different features from each style, enabling you to possible have the best of both worlds, depending on your preferences. It is important to look at all styles and judge what you would personally feel more comfortable in.

Once you have chosen the style you want, the next step is to choose a lining and filler. The filler is especially important if you are allergic to down, or have a particular sensitivity to down with asthma or other respiratory conditions. There are two fillers to decide on - synthetic and down. A synthetic fiber filler is generally heavier than down but when wet, it does not absorb water so therefore insulating ability is not reduced. A down filler is lighter than synthetic fiber but it requires more care and you must not get it wet or it will be useless.

Is the sleeping bag you are considering of a correct size to accommodate your height and weight? Although the necessity of this proper sizing seems evident, this is actually one factor that many people seem to forget about when making their decision. And as a final but no less important point, keep in mind that sleeping bags have temperature ratings which they are designed to meet. You might choose a bag rated for temperatures even cooler than the environment you will be in if you are one of those people who is always cold. And for your own comfort, don't forget that it is generally more difficult to warm up than it is to be too hot and cool yourself down if necessary. - 38505

Children love movies and more and more, parents are also paying full adult price for their children's tickets. There are seldom discounted tickets for children. Add in the cost of the refreshments mentioned about and you can easily see how the cost is increased and the entire trip is even more expensive. Kids usually need an adult to accompany them so that adds further to what has already become an overpriced outing. Financially, it is a waste of money for a two hour movie experience.

The practicality and stress free pleasures movie downloads offer provide great ease to many movie goers and fan worldwide. Instead of running up to catch the last full show, one can enjoy watching the latest blockbuster hit right within the comforts of their home. So now, thanks to movie downloads, families can watch their favorite movies, even if it means microwave popcorn! - 38505

Things You Must Know About El Quetzal

By Marina K. Villatoro

Who are they? Quetzals are considered one of the world's most beautiful birds. They are also beautiful and exotic birds known for their bright colors and long tails.

Color: The Female has dark green fathers and a red belly. But the male is unmistakable. Its feathers are from a vibrant green with its distinctive long tail feathers. There is also their scarlet belly and the white lower tail surface.

Food: Quetzals are specialized fruit-eaters, but can also be called omnivorous becuase they also like to mix their diet with insects and small frogs.

Growth: Males can be a meter long and can weigh up to half pound because of their tales. The body itself can measure 38 to 40.5 cm and the tail 61 cm.

Age: Quetzal can't live in captivity, that's why no one knows how long they live.

Kids: Females can only have two eggs at once, these eggs are blue and measure around 3 centimeters. The male and female quetzals take turns incubating the eggs. The time it takes the young to come out of the shell is 17 to 18 days. Young quetzals can fly at about three weeks of age, but males do not begin to grow their long tail plumes for three years.

Mating: During mating season, male quetzals grow the twin tail feathers that characterize them and can grow up to one meter long. Females do not have long tails, but they do share the brilliant green and red coloring of their mates. The reproductive time is between March and June.

Importance: There are six different kinds of Quetzals in the world and they are all endangered. These beautiful exotic birds because of all the illegal hunting and the destruction of their habitat are in the list of to be extinct animals.

Quick Fact: A Guatemalan legend says that when the Spaniards came there was an epic fight between them and the Quiches (ancient town of Mayan natives), once it was over many quetzals landed on dead Mayan's bodies. By doing so they got stained in their blood and that's where they got their red chests from.

Where can they be found? They need to live in a tropical forest. They can be found in small areas from Chiapas, Mexico to Panama. - 38505

Tropical Travel Destinations

By Martin Elmer

Today it is not a problem to travel to commercial tropical areas, because they normally populated by humans. However it is a little more complicated to travel to the rainforest. In the following you can read about both types of travelling.

There are several countries with tropical beaches that you can travel to. The most popular destinations are all located in either Southern Asia or South America.

Accommodation at these countries is fairly cheap. However, airfares tend to be pricier depending where you are coming from. It is best to look around online and at your agencies for the best deals and packages.

Another popular place is The Amazon. It is located in the country of Ecuador (which is located in South America). There are six different regions where you can potential travel to depending on which areas are not restricted for tourists. The regions are: Sucumbios, Orellana, Napo, Pastaza, Morona, Santiago and Zamora Chinchipe.

There are two cities in The Amazon: Tena and Coca. Busing to Tena is roughly around 6 hours. Usually the buses don't take any stops during the whole trip. The cost is around $7.

It is best to travel in groups for better safety when visiting The Amazon. It is also ideal to find a tour guide who knows about the surrounding areas, animals and plants.

You can stay in the middle of the jungle in a jungle lodge; if you have the time and budget. Included in the price is usually also canoe trips, biking and fishing.

The fees for these lodges are pretty decent; they range from $100USD to over $250USD per night, depending on the quality and packages that comes with the lodges. It's best to book these packages while you are in Ecuador because they are much cheaper than booking them indirectly in your country. - 38505

Frank Capra's Heart Warming Film Its A Wonderful Life

By Althea Schmidt

Its a Wonderful Life may well be Frank Capra's masterpiece. It is the film where his positive outlook on life, his humanity, his humane portrayal of the characters, shines through most brightly. All of Capra's works present his philosophy on life and love, but this film defines that philosophy, and still stands as the greatest Christmas movie of all time.

The nostalgic inner child in you may disagree and cite A Christmas Story or How the Grinch Stole Christmas or even It's Christmas Charlie Brown! The cynic in you will jokingly cite Die Hard or Lethal Weapon as the greatest holiday film ever made, but those sides of you are both wrong! When it comes to a holiday film, you need to go with your heart and soul, and that points you towards It's a Wonderful Life.

To begin with, the film deals with an aspect of the holidays that few other films are brave enough to handle: Depression, nihilism, disappointment, negativity. Heck, the movie's first act ends with Jimmy Stewart, the friendliest and warmest actor that ever lived, getting ready to jump off a bridge and off himself!

Capra starts Stewart's George Bailey at such an incredibly low, sad, dark point that it is truly heroic and triumphant to watch him climb from there. Any director can keep it positive by just never facing the hero with any challenge, but Bailey is beset on all sides by the tyranny of evil men, he's put up against the world and told to make it alone. He starts low and ends on a high note.

This film and Rocky rank as the all time great "Tears of Joy" films. If you're not crying by the end, then sorry, but there's probably something wrong with you, no offense. The film is simply so human, so humane, yet so honest, that it can't help but dash any trace of negativity and pessimism you might have been feeling when it began.

Interestingly, the film was a flop on release. The director had always been a popular, money-making film maker, but for some reason, this one just didn't grab the movie-going audience. Of course, the movie has since become one of the most successful of all time on video, DVD, second runs and, of course, cable, but at the time, it almost sank Capra's career.

Film legend has it that Capra had pegged Stewart from the start and would accept nobody else in the lead. Not true. In fact, he WANTED Henry Fonda, but Stewart was a close second. Fonda would have been a great lead in Bailey's shoes, but Stewart owns and defines this role better than any other actor possibly could have. We can imagine what might have been, but we can't imagine loving Bailey so much as anyone but Stewart.

The movie had a number of alternative endings written, and one or two of them filmed. Interestingly, the "spoof" ending shown on Saturday Night Live, with Stewart leading the entire town to Potter's house for a good old fashioned whoopin', isn't far off from one of the alternative endings that was actually filmed by Capra's cast and crew! - 38505

Rio Beats Out Chicago, Two Other Cities To Claim 2016 Summer Olympics

By Ross Everett

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite--including President Barack Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey--Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points. The Brazilian leader stressed the unfairness that South America had never hosted the games in his speech to the committee;

"It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country."

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The'96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal. - 38505

Considerations That Will Give You Some Hint When Deciding On The Best Option To Go For A Cruise

By Aaron Baty

A cruise can be one of the most luxurious vacations you can take. You'll enjoy seeing exotic and remote places, plenty of opportunities to go sunbathing, and fresh air whenever you want it.

To get the most out of your cruise for the money, however, it's still important to look at all your options and choose the most cost-effective solution. Keep these tips in mind when booking a cruise to get the best possible vacation for the money you spend.

1. Take a careful look at your vacation budget. Whether you've been saving money to pay for this vacation for years or it's a spur of the moment idea and you're working with a small budget, it's always important to figure out that maximum amount you can spend on the cruise and stick to that number.

Even if you're working with a limited budget, you can still get a nice cruise package by going in the off season. Still, consider the temperatures of your destinations at the time of year to be sure that it'll be a comfortable trip.

In addition to offering lower prices out of season, several cruise lines change their prices throughout the year. You can find out when each line offers its lowest prices by doing a little research on the internet.

Some cruise lines allow you to alter your schedule, even when the date you have booked is fairly close. This is because they may want to fill up liners that don't have enough bookings.

2. Try to find the boats that the cruise line really wants to fill. The prices on these ships will usually be quite a bit cheaper. Cruise lines make a significant portion of their profit from sells goods to customers on the ship so it's to their advantage when boats are fully booked.

3. Your cruise's destination will affect the price of the vacation. Some luxury cruise lines will always have higher prices than others.

As of right now, cruises in the Western Mediterranean seem to offer the best value. Of course, you will have to pay to travel to the area first. - 38505

The Mapes Hotel: Lost Landmark Of Northern Nevada History

By Ross Everett

On a cold, gray morning in late January 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community and nationally to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts.

While the logic and necessity of demolishing the Mapes is very questionable, one thing that is certain is that the hotel was an important part of Northern Nevada history. The Mapes opened in'47 and with it ushered in a new era for casino gambling and the state of Nevada. Despite some historical revisionism that suggests that the modern era began in Las Vegas with Bugsy Siegel's famed Flamingo, the Mapes was actually the first building in America to have a hotel, casino and live entertainment under the same roof. The Mapes attracted countless celebrities who'd make it their home when business brought them to Northern Nevada--this included movie stars like Clark Gable, TV stars like the cast of 'Bonanza' and political power brokers like infamous anti-Communist crusader Joseph McCarthy.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Sinatra, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes prospered during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in'82, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

While the last twenty years brought an amazing boom in the population and economy of Southern Nevada, the Northern part of the state didn't see much of it at all. For that reason, the urgency of destroying the Mapes is even more questionable. In the Las Vegas area, its easy to justify the demolition of older hotels with simple economics--the older properties simply can't compete in the current mega-resort dominated marketplace. Furthermore, the insane valuation of the land on which they sit makes it financially unfeasible to preserve them as pop culture museums.

This is not the case in Reno, where land and buildings for development in virtually every casino area are abundant. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land--which sits along the banks of the Truckee River--to expand its riverside district of art galleries, restaurants and shops. The revitalization of downtown Reno is definitely needed and a legitimate goal, but at the same time it is hard to think that the Mapes was a barrier to this. Indeed, a number of proposals for redevelopment including office space, artists lofts and upscale senior housing would have probably served to enhance the livability of the downtown area. For whatever reason, the City Redevelopment Authority wouldn't approve any of the proposals and the fate of the Mapes was sealed.

The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. Back in'96, the city of Reno purchased the hotel and began entertaining proposals for renovation and redevelopment. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which eventually led to the demolition of the structure.

After the demolition of The Mapes Hotel, the lot remained vacant for almost a year until a temporary ice skating rink was constructed in the winter of 2001. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, brings into question the insistence by the City Redevelopment Agency that none of the proposals to preserve the building were viable. Clearly, they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark of a more civilized era. - 38505

The Drew Carey Show Episodes

By Terrie Jenkins

Seinfeld gets a lot of attention, as it well should, as having been one of the most innovative sitcoms of the nineties. However, The Drew Carey Show really made just as many important innovations in the television show format as Seinfeld, even if people mainly remember it as one of those shows you watch when there was nothing else on. Put it on your list next time you visit your movie download service and see what the show was really all about.

It could have just been another formulaic sitcom. Many comedians, they get a TV deal so the first thing they do is create just another family sitcom. The blue collar dad, the football widow wife, the kids (usually a daughter and a son) and the wacky neighbor. The Drew Carey Show, while still being more or less based on the comedian's act, also took the sitcom in a new direction.

Like Seinfeld, it used less formulaic plots and created funnier, weirder situations, but unlike Seinfeld, really applied a degree of surrealism and absurdity to the proceedings. The cast was never afraid to break into song and do a musical episode, or just a musical number in a non-musical episode, and the rivalry between Drew and Mimi was really a fun, quirky driving force for the show.

Like Seinfeld, the show never really delved into the same formulaic plots about Superbowl parties and so on, and really went in a whole new direction creating its own, new concepts for great TV stories. It's about the existential dread, the fear you feel when you're anywhere between thirty and fifty and wondering why your life didn't shape up the way you wanted it to. It's really interesting, and a little deeper than the usual Football Widow jokes you see in most sitcoms.

By the final season, Carey was making somewhere around a million bones an episode, but... The ratings started to slip. Drew Carey had a strong and loyal following, but it just wasn't enough to keep the show on the air any longer. Sadly, the show is not syndicated anywhere in the US right now, nor have they ever released anything beyond the first season on DVD, so watching online is probably the only way to enjoy it anymore.

The most refreshing thing about the show really was that its focus wasn't on the same thing as every other show. No football widow jokes, no stories about the son borrowing the car without asking. The characters are easier to relate to because they don't feel like generic television characters.

The show also feels refreshing in that it acknowledges that mom, dad and the kids are not, in fact, the only form a family can take, nor are mom, dad and the kids the only people in the US who matter. The show is, again, focused on single people, and the result is a show that really validates you no matter who you are in life and what you've accomplished so far.

And of course, it's funny. Lewis and Oswald may well be the second and third funniest comic relief characters of the nineties, after Cosmo Kramer, of course. It's always fun when a show that's already a comedy features comic relief characters. Fourth place, of course, goes to Zoidberg, of Futurama. - 38505

A Synopsis Of Se7en

By Herman Knowles

If you are taking a look at this particular piece, you are likely hoping to learn a little bit about the impressive movie "Se7en." Sure enough, there are many different things that you likely should know about this movie, and most of these will be addressed in the upcoming paragraphs.

You should know, though, that this might contain more about the plot of the movie than you might care to know. Meaning, if you have not seen this movie and read the plot synopsis it might tell you more than the back of the movie cover will. This has a shocking ending, which will not be revealed in this article, so don't worry about that.

The film begins with a brief introduction to two of the main characters through the film, Detective William Somerset and Detective David Mills. The two have been partnered together and it isn't long before they are both on the case investigating two very unique murders unlike anything either of them had ever seen before.

The first of these involves a morbidly obese man who was force fed spaghetti until a simple blow to the stomach split him open, killing him. Later, Mills discovers the word "GLUTTONY" written behind the refrigerator. On the other scene, a corrupt lawyer involved in getting guilty people off the hook for a decent compensation was found dead amongst various dollar bills. The word "GREED" was written on the floor here.

It doesn't take a lot of deduction by the detectives to determine that these crimes are relative to the seven deadly sins. So while two of them have been portrayed, there are still five crimes that are slated to occur to complete the quorum. It doesn't take long for these to rack up either, and they are not for the faint of heart.

To make matters even more obscure, the culprit, John Doe, reveals himself (even turning himself in). He offers to show the detectives Mills and Somerset to the location of the last two victims that had yet to be discovered. They are willing to play along when he agrees to give a full confession that would surely put him away. The last two victims are the last that you might have expected though.

The power players that really made this movie as brilliant as it became were Brad Pitt (Detective Mills) and Kevin Spacey (John Doe). The supporting roles from Morgan Freeman (Detective Somerset) and Gwenyth Paltrow (Tracy Mills) were instrumental in making the other roles as impressive as they really were. This film was not only among the most gruesome and chilling pieces you are likely to see, but it really has earned a spot among the classic crime films of all time.

So, if you wanted to learn more about Se7en, than this should have given you a good introduction to the film. While there is certainly more to appreciate about this movie, you are going to have to learn about that for yourself. So put the kids to bed, and appreciate what so many others have deemed one of the best films of 1995, and likely the nineties altogether. - 38505

A New Experience In The World Of Travel

By Adriana Noton

When one is making travel plans the one place that is close to the United States is the wonderful country of Canada. Complete with its majestic mountains, lakes and other attractions it is one of the most exciting countries to visit in the world. Bordered by the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans, it is the second largest country in the world, second only to Russia.

The history of Canada is fascinating. Aboriginal people originally occupied the land and, after various explorations by European countries a United Kingdom Federal Domination was formed in 1867. It was in 1982 that it took action and severed dependence on the British Parliament. As large as the country is it only has 31 million people, which leaves a vast amount of unoccupied territory.

Canada's official languages are English and French. Quebec has the largest concentration of French speaking people but anyone visiting the country can find an interpreter if they speak neither of those languages. Ottawa is the capital of Canada and Toronto is the largest city. The Canadian Parliament is located in Ottawa and tours can be arranged to personally witness Parliamentarian Debates in person.

Canada has 10 provinces and three territories. The Yukon, Northwest and Nunavut are Canada's three territories, some of which remain largely uninhabited. There are approximately 10,000,000 square kilometers of wilderness that many people using an RV, tent or trailer find to be a wonderful opportunity to explore the unknown.

World Cup History - The Biggest Winners

By Phil Lister

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is finally just a stones throw away, and it is shaping up to be one of the best competitions to date. The reality is, a lot of teams are going to have their work cut out to try and get a trophy, mainly due to the fact that five teams have now won the Cup on multiple occasions. Check a World Cup 2010 Forum and find out all the news and views of other people.

Brazil is known to be a strong force in any World Cup, consistently finishing in the top percentage of qualifiers and winning on various occasions. In fact, Brazil are the team with the most overall victories, with 1958 being the first year they ever won. This sparked a huge career for the likes of Pele and Garrincha, who both managed to propel their team to a 5-2 victory against Sweden in an eventful game.

At the very next attempt, they looked strong from the start and possible favorites. It was not long before they got into their stride, which saw them eventually gain their second World Cup trophy. The Czechs did their best to challenge this in 1962, but their efforts were fruitless, eventually losing 3-1. Missing out on a chance in the next World Cup, Brazil managed to reach a final once again in 1970, coming up against the Italians. It was a tough battle, but Brazil came out as the victors with a 4-1 win. This was something that members of a World Cup 2010 Forum are likely to be talking about as we speak

It would be 1994 before Brazil saw another World Cup victory attempt. This time they would come against the Italians once more, hoping to repeat their previous performance. Of course, the Italians were on form, this time holding Brazil to a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately for them, Romario was on form, helping to rocket Brazil to victory on penalties.

A few years later they were back in business, or so they thought, eventually losing to France after an impressive battle. No harm was done though, as in 2002, they managed to beat the Germans to become champions after an impressive 2-0 performance.

Whilst no other team has shown as much dominance as Brazil, the likes of Italy have shown strength. They had a great run before 1950, winning the 1934 and 1938 World Cup. Their third win came in 1982 with Rossi being one of the main assets of the team, with the fourth coming not too long after.

Germany has also showed some form over the years, taking three wins in total. This included their most recent wins in 1974 and 1990.

Brazil, Germany and Italy have won a collective 12 World Cups in their time, showing a huge amount of force between them. Get yourself on a World Cup 2010 Forum and keep up to date with all the action. - 38505

Cincinnati Rips Chicago

By Ross Everett

Former Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson got revenge on the team that let him go in the best possible way. Benson amassed 189 yards rushing and led his new team, the Cincinnati Bengals, to a 45-10 rout over the visiting Bears on Sunday. Carson Palmer threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions in the blowout victory. Cincinnati improved to 5-2 with the win while Chicago dropped to 3-3 on the NFL season.

The Bengals also made short work of the NFL pointspread, easily covering as +1' home underdogs. Cincinnati improved to 4-3 against the number while Chicago evened their ATS mark at 3-3.

A smug Benson described his feelings after the win:

"Everybody knew it was going to be an emotional day. Everybody knew. What a wonderful day and a wonderful thing, to go out there and strut your stuff."

Despite the evidence to the contrary, Benson downplayed the motive of revenge:

"I continue to be as graceful as I can be. I'm not shoving anything in anybody's face. Like I say, it wasn't a revenge day for me. I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunities."

He said his biggest problem was trying to keep his emotions in check:

"There were a few times where I may have gotten a little too hyped up, a little too antsy. A couple of drives, I found myself having to calm myself down and gather my emotions to stay poised. Once I got past that, we were good to go. Keep it rolling."

Bengals' receiver Chad Ochocinco had 10 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He shared his thoughts postgame:

"I don't understand why it went this way today and why it didn't go that way last week or the week before that. The offensive line played unbelievable. For Ced to run the way he did today and for us to be able to throw, we could have done what we wanted to do."

Chicago gave up more points than in any game all season, a fact that left defensive end Alex Brown looking for answers:

"That was pretty embarrassing. It's embarrassing to come out and play like that. I tip my hat to their whole team. Cedric ran the ball like crazy. They did whatever they wanted to do."

The Bengals will enjoy a bye week before hosting the Baltimore Ravens on November 8. They'll then play two games on the road at Pittsburgh and Oakland. Chicago will try to get back on track this Sunday as they host the Cleveland Browns. The Bears are -13' home favorites with the total set at 40. - 38505

Mendoza, Argentina's Wine Capital

By Peter Hagemann

When the words "Argentinean Wines "are mentioned, Mendoza comes to mind. Mendoza is the most important region in Argentina for the wine industry. As Argentina wines have made their mark on the world market so has the city of Mendoza. Not only is the city famous for its wine and vineyards, but Mendoza has become a destination for adventure seekers and the many outdoor sports and unbelievable scenery the area has to offer.

Capital of Mendoza Providence, Mendoza is the fourth largest city in Argentina. Sitting at the base of the eastern Andes Mountain range, the city is home to over 900,000 people. Mendoza has become the gateway to the high Andes and Chile. through Argentina's western region of Cuyo. Being closer to Santiago Chile than to Buenos Aires travelers will often make the 6 hour journey between Mendoza and Santiago. The Andes provide unbelievable views to drivers yet some travelers will opt for a flight between the 2 cities.

A irrigation system has been in place for centuries due to the scarceness of water in Mendoza. Once home to three Indian tribes, the Incas, Huarpes and Puelches, the city saw its first canals dug, yet it was not till 1561 that the city was founded by the Spaniards and Pedro Del Castillo and named after Don Garcia, the Governor of Chile. As the city of Mendoza increased, the irrigation system was expanded and today is still evident in road side canals through out the city.

Located at the base of South America's longest mountain range, the Andes, Mendoza has been frequent by several earthquakes. In 1861 the city was devastated by a major quake killing 5000 people. Mendoza was rebuilt with structures that were able to handle the seismic activity of the area, streets made wider and large squares incorporated into the city design. Today San Martin Street and Mendoza's largest park, Parque San Martin are an example of change due to the earthquakes.

Tourism has been a major growth area for Mendoza, being attracted mainly to its two main industries, wine and olive oil production. The road traveled between Chile and Argentina has made Mendoza a major stopping point. Climbers have come to Mendoza to climb the western hemisphere as well as South America's tallest mountain, Aconcagua. Rafting, horseback riding and hiking have also attracted adventure seekers to Mendoza. Mendoza offers easy access to Argentina's as well as South America' finest skiing. Malbec Wines, are a big draw to wine lovers that can be found in the foothills surrounding Mendoza. Many tours of winemakers and vineyards are available to travelers and tourist to the Mendoza area.

Hot, humid and wet summers and dry winters, Mendoza is considered a semi- desert region. Temperatures range in the 90's for January (Argentina's summer) during the daytime, and dropping to the low 60's during the night. Winter will bring temperatures in the high 50's during the day and the low to mid 30's in the night. Annual rainfall is less than 10 inches, thus the need for Mendoza's irrigation system. - 38505

Watch TV And Movie Downloads Like The Sopranos

By Vickie Mathews

If you weren't keeping up with the series when it was on, The Sopranos is one of your top must see tv and movie downloads. It's too bad to miss out on the fun of watching a show as it's going, as they actually had betting pools and who would get whacked, but better late than never.

The Sopranos isn't just a show about gangsters, it's a show about family, about the unpredictability of life, and most importantly, about the experience of being a human being in a world that throws you nothing but curveballs. The gangster trappings are only the backdrop of the show. The real focus is on Tony and his family and friends, and how they are affected by the life they've chosen.

Unlike the majority of the stories about gangsters, it's really not about the crime stuff at all. Obviously that's a big part of it, but it's not about these people as gangsters, it's about these gangsters as people. Everything that happens to these guys has, at one point or other, in some other form, happened to every one watching it. We've been betrayed and hurt and abandoned and loved, all of us.

Each season only brings more problems for the characters, just as every year brings more responsibilities into your lap.

The ending is really incredible. Some fans felt ripped off, but those people are missing the point. The Sopranos is not about easy answers, it's about the difficulty of life, how confusing and unpredictable it is. The ending actually doesn't carry any secret meaning at all. That cut to black doesn't mean Tony was whacked, it doesn't mean anything except that the show is over. Life keeps going, even with all the fears and worries we have to deal with, there's no finish line, no easy, climactic ending for anyone.

The Sopranos made some incredible innovations in television. After the reality TV boom, people didn't want the canned, predictable stuff of fictional TV anymore. David Chase came up with a show that mixed the storytelling of fictional TV with the unpredictability and realism of reality TV. This set the trend for LOST, House M. D. And The Shield, blending the best of both schools of television and creating a whole new style of storytelling.

Don't go nuts trying to make sense of everything. The show is full of unanswered questions, and just as in life, you'll never figure it all out.

The moral to the story is simply that life is hard to figure out. It goes on and on and you never really cross a finish line, nothing ever happens that solves all problems once and for good. It's difficult, confusing and frustrating, and all anyone can do is just go from day to day trying to make the most of what time they have on this world. That's really all there is to it, and looking for any deeper meaning in the show... You won't find it, and that's why it's so true to life and, really, deeply meaningful in its meaninglessness. - 38505
